potential matter of the gaps

The potential matter of the gaps is a site specific piece, initially created for MFA interim show, Pause, in 2020.

In Buddhist philosophy, Śūnyatā is the voidness that constitutes ultimate reality – seen not as a negation of existence but rather as the undifferentiation out of which all apparent entities, distinctions, and dualities arise.

The installation describes an intimacy of being, where all matter is interconnected. The stands – connections – between objects follow material rules and the representation –the hierarchy of the apparent objects – is removed so that the focus is not on the nodes of matter but on the conditionally of the ‘becomings’ or the ‘arisings’.

The work has since been installed in other ‘non-gallery’ locations where local objects and architecture become incorporated into the  piece.
