Outdoor Pizza Oven workshop

17th- 18th June 2023

Join us for this two day family workshop, lead by Simon Tipping.

Over the weekend we’ll be building an outdoor pizza oven using reclaimed bricks, and natural Staffordshire clay dug on site. And, on the Sunday afternoon, we’ll be celebrating fathers day with an inaugural firing so it’ll be home made, oven fired pizza, all round.

Simon is trained in ceramics and has built many kilns. As his practice developed he began experimenting with outdoor firing methods, using paper and natural clay, as well as running raku glazing workshops. He is interested in celebratory activity and now runs a community arts company which engages communities in carnival arts across the country.

By the end of the workshop you’ll have all the skills you need to create your own pizza oven in your garden or community space back at home.

Be prepared to get pretty muddy, and get your hands in the clay! The workshop is an immersive residential and will include shared meals and opportunities to stop and chat. There is camping on site (free for people on workshops).

Fees:

£100 per person for the full weekend workshop. Children go free but must have adult supervision. The fee includes basic camping facilities and shared meals – including pizza making with all the toppings!
